Boy did this topic come at an appropriate time! The foundation fixing involved rolling the carpet back so they could jackhammer 5 large holes in the floor and drive these big pipes into the ground, and then fill the holes back in with cement. Naturally furniture got moved which displaced a lot of clutter from its natural habitat...
However my daughter's room looks like this on a normal basis, regardless of what is happening downstairs. While I was in there sketching she came in and said, "Mom, what are you doing?"
"Drawing."
With her four year old hands on her hips, "I don't want you to draw in here."
"Why?"
"Because. I don't want you to get pen on the floor."
I can't decide if I like the black and white or colored version better. The color makes things look more cluttered, but I did it quick because with everything else going on I haven't had much time.

Lovely! (yes, even clutter can be lovely :) I think the b/w one is nice, but I prefer the colored one overall - it's easier to see everything and it "brightens up" the scene :)
I like the colored version better. It makes each item stand out more, and the hurried quality of the color suits the tone of the image. Very nice, Heather! I'm liking this style.
I like them both, since they show the process and that's always a wonderful thing for fellow artist to see!

Wonderful drawing and it brought memories back to me of my own cluttered room when I was small.
Drawing clutter is fun and always a surprise...
No pen on floor! Cute :)
Also glad to see you resolved the problem of the house structure.
Lovely! Both are great
Ha! I guess when we have kids this 'clutter' theme is rather easy to portray. My daughter tends to be more neat than her younger brother, but we do have days when her room looks just like this one!
Glad to find out that your house is getting some work done. I'm sure it will all be worth it when it's done!
I like them both, but prefer the black and white, but I agree with a previous comments that the color makes the items stand out more.
i like the black and white better, it looks more 'classic'. btw your daughter is funny! ^_^
Great! Your lovely softly colours give your work real life!
But I like the black & white version too!

You poor thing, I do hope you get a well deserved uncluttered rest at somepoint.
Love the illustration, the coloured version really does multiply the cluttered feeling!
Ooh so you've seen my daughter room? She is the poster child for clutter. This is just wonderful. The composition , color and texture all work together so very well to make a great illustration.
