Illustration Friday: Flying

This week's topic brought up a seasonally appropriate topic: bats! There is a large colony of Mexican free tail bats under the McNeil bridge in Round Rock, TX. At dusk thousands of bats leave the bridge to go out and feed. They look like dark ribbons in the sky.

I really like the way you've done the streams of black bats and the city skyline against the bold sunset. I need to get out and watch them!

Wonderful work. I've always wanted to see this in person, but never had the opportunity. I'll be in Dallas in early Nov for a gallery show, perhaps I'll get a chance to see some proper bats ;)!
