Illustration Friday: Polar

I was a little stymied by this week's topic. I harrumphed, "I can't think of anything except the typical 'Polar bear in a snow storm eating an ice cream cone!'"
"Marshmallow," my husband corrected, "the polar bear eats a marshmallow."
Oh yes that's much easier.
But I decided to take on the challenge of how to visually describe something that is typically a white peice of paper accompanied by a cocky little voice.

This is such a beautiful, delicate piece. Did you stencil the snowflakes? They're wonderful!

I used paths in Photoshop to create the snow flakes and then created a shape. I used this shape for the white flakes in the foreground.
I also created a brush from the shape and set a variable size to get the darker ones in the background.
