Illustration Friday: Crash

When I read this week's topic the first thing that came to mind was the image of water crashing to the floor. Probably not a typical reaction but I'd just received word that the vacant house we are trying to sell in another state had been seriously flooded. Somehow (still unknown) someone had stopped up the sink, turned on the tap full blast and left it running.

Sorry to hear about the flooding and the cause. When I saw your illo I was impressed how well you tackled this challenge. Illustrating water is always a difficult task. I would try to make the tank appear more rounded by shading along the sides. To give the impression of speed I would use less glob-like droplets. Instead, I would create a uniform, straight flow of water coming down from the sides of the tank with some smaller droplets splashing back up from the floor. Also thanks for your comments on my blog - very helpful.

Great drawing.

My sons managed to splash a LOT of bath water down past the sealant which had leaked a little....I didn't realise it was going through until I noticed water spalshes in the kitchen.... Oh dear!

Thanks for your comments... It looks like this will be a long haul. I can already see the legions of insurance adjusters, inspectors and contractors lining up...
